Why did you not listen? I don't want a capture the flag/region system that I don't even have to care about or play it like a board game. The sentiment is shared - your fans have all said for YEARS that SH 2 was BY FAR the best game your produced. Then this is in my Email this morning and the very first scenes of this video my spirits ROSE and I was like WOW FEUDAL JAPAN! But turned into an odd Sid Meiers capture and occupy territory overall RISK type system and I almost burst into tears. After that, well.things just started to plummet and the mobile game I spent a total of 10 minutes playing and honestly I put Firefly on the shelf and remembered the good times. SH Legends - meh, sure OK but 3 good lordy what were you thinking. I fell in love with Stronghold 2 and TO THIS DAY is still installed and played on a regular basis in my Steam Library. Make sure you have your market and your barracks and granery easily accessible, the rest is whatever slot you can slide it in.ġ year ago on the E3 Reveal Trailer I posted this:įirefly I've been such a long time fan starting with Crusader. Its same as the old SH, fletchers work faster than blacksmiths, rice yields quicker than fruit and meat. You can set things up pretty nice and tidy though with a little forethought. To be completely honest, I just put things down without even a thought as a.) I had no idea which building was what since they are all the same color and b) even to 'set' color is not right and it kept having me build ox posts for iron. For me, not being able to fortify your warlords just makes it feel like node control in CoH, WH4K, and frik even Iron Harvest.Īs far as land is concerned, Asia might look big, but there are so many people that tiny suits the bill. I'm hoping that this was resolved as the demo is a bit dated.

Still though, for me the setting doesn't really bother me all that much, but taking over a node (warlord) only to retreat back to base to fortify - then look to see that a small band of whatever took it and now I have to go back and make the dude kneel again, althewhile my other one was getting beat down from soldiers spawning from off the map. Once I felt that sad, I just sat at my base and turtled everything until I had bannermen and fire ballistas. I mean, what's the point of having a 'main base' when you can't even go back to it since you have to set up a bunch of troops and stuff at your resource node? /shrug. I thought they were supposed to defend themselves but yet, no soldiers or anything spawned for them - so they just basically stood there waiting to be owned by the next dude that came along. I just finally played that old demo and my thought was "Why can't I put a wall around my ally?" You literally have to own the warlords in a specific order, which to me, makes it feel very linear.

They put some innovative features in Warlords though, so who knows what will come next ? To make it balanced and/or not overwhelming, you would only be allowed to build 1, maybe 2 of these carts (the 2nd one would cost even more than the 1st one), and couldn't deploy them in order to "eat" your opponent's territory (and instead, there would be a lot of neutral territory, instead of the many neutral estates, to deploy them). For the later, you could switch between your estates with an arrow in the IU, or simply by clicking on a building of one of another of your estates. Either 1) it would be an extension of your castle (while the buildings tied to the area of your cart would spawn and use the villagers from your cart) and the villagers would still have to make the travel to your main castle (that you would probably need to protect), or 2) have a separate estate of your own that would use the ressources from the area around the cart (except for gold and honour). I feel you though, I once imagined that you could call in a cart (for a huge amount of honour or some special ressources) that you could deploy somewhere to allow you to build in the area around it (a bit like in C&C 3 : tiberium wars).

The warlords will be a bit like estates in stronghold 2, with more depth and use.

The realm's border will be set by the map itself (though, you could have a wide area to build in the free build map, or in map created from the map editor -whether it's yours or some from the workshop- to then play against the AI). From what they showed so far, it probably won't be the case.
